Mumbai, March 18 (NationPress) Following the unrest in Maharashtra's Nagpur regarding the call for the demolition of Aurangzeb’s grave, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut stated on Tuesday that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, should pick up spades and shovels to address the wishes of “their” people.
“What is the source of this inspiration that incites riots? It's a subject worth investigating. The recent Holi celebrations were marred, and the events in Rajapur and other regions are well-known. Historically, Maharashtra has not experienced riots during festivals like Holi, but there are fears that our own people may ignite conflicts on Gudi Padwa. Certain individuals are instigating Hindu-Muslim riots in this state by using Aurangzeb as a pretext. They reference the Babri incident, claiming they will dismantle Aurangzeb's grave in Maharashtra similar to what happened at Babri,” Raut remarked.
Addressing those advocating for the destruction of Aurangzeb’s grave, he added, “The administration is in your hands, Narendra Modi, Devendra Fadnavis. Why incite riots? The government should proceed to demolish the grave. This is a government that aligns with your ideologies; Mohan Bhagwat, Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde, and Ajit Pawar should take up spades and shovels to satisfy the desires of their constituents.”
Raut emphasized that the party has consistently maintained that Aurangzeb’s grave symbolizes the valor of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. “One Aurangzeb arrived here. One Afzal Khan appeared, as did one Shahiste Khan, and none returned. The Mavlas and Sambhaji Raja buried their graves here. This represents the courage of the Mavlas. However, the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the BJP has always been to diminish the significance of Sambhaji Raja and Shivaji Maharaj. Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj have never been perceived as icons of courage and triumph by the BJP. Thus, if you eliminate the villain first, you will automatically erase the hero. Therefore, target the villain and remove the heroes of Maharashtra,” he alleged.
“Shiv Sena leader Balasaheb Thackeray advocated for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya at the site of the encroachment where the Babri mosque once stood. We will not meddle with any other mosque or grave. Hindus and Muslims must coexist peacefully in this nation. Such harmony is essential for the survival of this country and state. That was Balasaheb Thackeray’s position. His fight for Hindutva was oriented towards the Ram temple, which led to the demolition of Babri. Balasaheb Thackeray never promoted a form of Hindutva that involves daily demolishing mosques or dismantling graves,” Raut stated.
Commenting on the violence in Nagpur, Raut expressed that it was improbable for outsiders to instigate such conflicts. “If outsiders invade the Chief Minister's constituency and provoke riots leading to extensive arson, it indicates a failure of the Chief Minister in his role as Home Minister,” he asserted. “If such disturbances arise in his constituency while the Assembly is in session, and the Chief Minister is discussing law and order, who are the instigators?” he questioned.
Raut noted that he observed individuals from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal in Nagpur making incendiary remarks and issuing threats on news channels. “They are not outsiders. They are indeed members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad or RSS and are locals from Nagpur. They can be identified. The Chief Minister must be aware of these individuals,” he concluded.
