Chandigarh, Oct 21 (NationPress) The Haryana Director General of Police (DGP), O.P. Singh, alongside senior officials, honored the incredible sacrifices of 191 martyrs by laying a wreath at the Police Martyrs Memorial located in the Police Lines of Panchkula, commemorating Police Commemoration Day.

Expressing his condolences, DGP Singh noted that each time a police officer loses their life, their family is thrust into a sea of challenges. In an instant, their lives are altered — facing both emotional and financial burdens concurrently.

During these trying times, it is our primary obligation to stand unwaveringly with the grieving family. In line with this commitment, the Haryana Police has established provisions to offer government employment and financial support of up to Rs 1 crore to the martyrs' dependents, ensuring they can sustain their lives with dignity and that no child is deprived of education or a promising future.

DGP Singh remarked that martyrdom is seen as the ultimate sacrifice.

He stressed that through creativity and empathy, we must cultivate a society where the lion and the goat can drink from the same stream, representing a harmony between strength and tranquility.

He explained that while it is instinctive for a lion to take pride in its might, a goat should not mourn its vulnerability. There exist certain criminal elements in society whose behaviors mirror those of wolves and foxes, motivated by violence and self-interest. Such individuals must be confronted with determination and resolution.

The DGP stated that those who view violence as a vehicle for progress are adversaries of civilization. Our battle against them is not one of ideology but legality. We are individuals who tread the path of law, and our strategy is unequivocal — an eye for an eye.

"If a criminal discharges a bullet, the police will not back down; we are committed to delivering justice and security through every possible measure," he added.

He praised the warriors who stand firm in battle and sacrifice their lives instead of retreating.

"These true sons of the soil sustain the system through their courage and sacrifice," he affirmed.

In conclusion, DGP Singh expressed that the Haryana Police profoundly empathizes with the pain experienced by the families of their fallen comrades.

"We pay our respects to those courageous mothers who brought forth such brave sons who sacrificed their lives for our nation," he stated.

"Together, we will forge a Haryana that is stronger, safer, and more compassionate, ensuring that the sacrifices of our martyrs inspire future generations."

On October 21, 1959, ten courageous personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force were ambushed and martyred by Chinese soldiers while conducting patrols along the Indo-Tibetan border in the Ladakh region. Since then, October 21 has been annually observed as Police Commemoration Day in their honor.
