Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday, 25 September 2026, declared that a defining contest is underway for India's future — framing it as a clash between the Gandhi Parivar and the Sangh Parivar (a reference to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh). He made the remarks after receiving the prestigious Aryadan Muhammed Award at Nilambur, Kerala, where Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal presented him the honour for best public servant.

The Two-Parivar Framework

Revanth Reddy argued that the Gandhi Parivar — citing Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi as those who sacrificed their lives, and Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi as those who sacrificed post, power, and position — represents a tradition of national sacrifice. He alleged, by contrast, that the Sangh Parivar is dividing India along lines of religion, caste, region, and language.

The Chief Minister further alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is fighting against freedom, secularism, and the Constitution — a charge the BJP has consistently denied. These remarks are consistent with the broader opposition narrative ahead of anticipated electoral cycles.

Attack on BJP Over 'Vote Chori'

Revanth Reddy levelled sharp criticism at the BJP over what he described as 'vote chori' (vote theft) in the name of Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The Chief Minister's Office quoted him as saying: 'Vote ki chori, party ki chori, symbol ki chori, funds ki chori. They are stealing future of youth. They are stealing the foundation of democracy and India and the integrity of vote.'

This is not the first time Congress leaders have raised concerns about the Special Intensive Revision process; the party has previously approached the Election Commission of India (ECI) on related matters, reflecting a pattern of electoral grievance that has become a recurring opposition talking point.

Rahul Gandhi as Future Prime Minister

The Chief Minister was unequivocal about his political ambition for his party's leader, stating that his only dream is to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister of India. He predicted a Congress-led government at the Centre and urged citizens to stand behind Gandhi 'till we totally save India from communal forces.'

Revanth Reddy also invoked the idea of Kerala as a political bellwether, drawing an analogy to the monsoon: just as weather experts track Kerala's rains to forecast conditions across the country, he suggested a Congress victory in Kerala signals momentum for the party nationally. He cited what he described as a 2026 Congress win in Kerala as the beginning of a broader political storm building toward New Delhi.

Tribute to Aryadan Muhammed

Revanth Reddy noted with pride that he is reportedly the first person from outside Kerala to receive the award, which is named in memory of Aryadan Muhammed — a veteran Congress politician who served as MLA eight times and Minister four times under different Chief Ministers. The Chief Minister described Muhammed as 'a Chanakya in Kerala politics' and 'a true Congress man' who served the party for more than five decades.

As the Congress seeks to project a unified national opposition front, Revanth Reddy's speech at an inter-state award ceremony underlines the party's efforts to knit together regional leaders around a central narrative — one that positions Rahul Gandhi as both a moral and electoral alternative to the ruling dispensation.
