Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 20 (NationPress) - A shocking discovery unfolded in Sarsawa town of Saharanpur district when five bodies, riddled with bullet wounds, were found inside a secured residence, igniting panic and disbelief among the local populace. The deceased comprised a revenue officer and four family members, whose lifeless forms were located within their home in Kaushik Vihar Colony.

According to local residents, the house was newly constructed and set for inauguration the following month. Promptly, police and district administrators arrived on the scene, cordoning off the area to initiate a thorough investigation. The horrendous find quickly spread throughout the neighborhood, enveloping it in fear and mourning.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Ashish Tiwari, disclosed that authorities were notified about the discovery of five bodies in the colony. “A police team promptly reached the location and conducted a preliminary examination,” he stated.

Upon investigation, the deceased were identified as Ashok Rathi, the revenue officer, along with his mother, wife, and two sons, all found in the same room and showing signs of gunshot wounds. Additionally, three pistols were retrieved from the scene.

Authorities revealed that initial assessments indicate all five fatalities resulted from gunshot wounds. Investigators are also looking into the revenue officer's medical history to assess any potential health or psychological issues that may have played a role in this tragedy.

A forensic team has been dispatched to gather evidence, and the bodies have been sent for autopsy. The investigation is being conducted from all possible angles, including a possible murder-suicide, although no conclusions have been made yet. Further legal processes are ongoing.

Neighbors described the family as peaceful individuals, stating they had never engaged in any conflicts. “Their demeanor was always normal, and they interacted well with everyone,” shared a local resident.

With no immediate leads, police officials mentioned that the motive behind these deaths remains uncertain and will only be clarified following the autopsy reports and forensic evaluations.

Local MP Imran Masood visited the site and expressed his sorrow regarding the incident. “It is incredibly tragic that an entire family has lost their lives. Initially, it seems they may have taken their own lives, as the house was locked from the inside. This is a serious concern for society,” he remarked.

“Society must reflect on the underlying causes of such occurrences,” he added.
