Patna, Nov 8 (NationPress) The RJD filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday, raising concerns about questionable activities at a strong room located in Hajipur, Vaishali district.
The party shared video clips from CCTV on its official X account, alleging that cameras from various Assembly constituencies were being turned off sequentially and that a pickup van was observed entering and exiting the area late at night.
In a fervent post, the RJD accused the country's largest vote thief of residing in Bihar for several days under the guise of campaigning, and claimed the media was aiding in distracting attention from purported vote manipulation.
“This time, Bihar will teach these two outsiders a lesson. They aim to undermine democracy in Bihar, the cradle of the republic — Biharis will not allow this to occur under any circumstances,” the RJD stated on X.
In response to the complaint, the ECI stated that an initial investigation had been carried out.
According to the Commission's official statement, CCTV footage from the strong room was being monitored at two locations — the main control room and a separate viewing area designated for party representatives.
The ECI confirmed that the CCTV in the control room “remained operational continuously.”
However, they noted that the screen at the viewing area for one of the five Assembly segments — 129 Mahanar — had turned off temporarily due to auto timeout, but was quickly restarted. The other displays functioned without interruption, the Commission clarified, adding that the main control room feed for Mahanar was unaffected.
As for the pickup van, the ECI clarified that it belonged to security personnel assigned at the strong room, who were delivering bedding and supplies to the college campus during the late hours.
“The vehicle departed within 15 minutes and its entry was logged in the guard register,” stated the Commission.
The Commission emphasized that the strong room operates under a three-tier security system. Kundan Kumar — the RJD representative from Lalganj who disseminated the video — confirmed the factual situation during verification.
“The unfounded and misleading post is being countered,” stated the ECI.
