Guwahati, April 21 (NationPress) The Director General of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Manoj Yadava, made a visit to the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on Monday, where he assessed the security arrangements to ensure the RPF's preparedness in facing the distinct challenges presented by the region's geographical and strategic circumstances, according to officials.
The NFR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, noted that the NFR is a strategically sensitive zone of Indian Railways, sharing international borders with multiple neighboring countries, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, and Myanmar.
"The extensive international borders render security management in this area both critical and complex. In this context, the inspection and evaluation by the DG RPF holds particular importance in assuring the RPF's readiness to tackle the unique challenges posed by the region's geographical and strategic landscape," he added.
During his visit, the RPF DG conducted a comprehensive examination of the RPF infrastructure and assessed the operational systems in place.
This visit underscores the ongoing commitment of Indian Railways to enhance security standards and operational readiness throughout all regions, the CPRO remarked.
He chaired a crime review meeting at the newly inaugurated RPF conference hall, dubbed "Manthan", located at the NFR headquarters in Maligaon (near Guwahati).
Attending the meeting were Additional General Manager (AGM) of NFR, V.B. Vishwakarma; Inspector General of RPF, K. Arul Jothi; along with several other senior officials. Various aspects of railway security, crime prevention, passenger safety, and the modernization of RPF operations were discussed.
The CPRO highlighted the emphasis on strengthening intelligence gathering, improving coordination with other law enforcement agencies, and utilizing technology for enhanced surveillance and monitoring.
During his visit, Yadava also engaged with RPF personnel, commending their dedication and efforts in upholding safety and security across the railway network.
He urged the RPF to maintain their commitment and professionalism, recognizing the crucial role they fulfill in the security framework of Indian Railways.
As part of the visit, a "Suraksha Sammelan" was organized at Rang Bhawan, the cultural auditorium in Maligaon, where the RPF DG addressed a large audience of RPF personnel.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by the force and assured that the welfare and well-being of RPF personnel are a top priority.
The RPF Chief also stressed the necessity of a motivated and well-supported force to provide effective railway security and encouraged open communication to address their needs.
The NFR operates within the northeastern states and in seven districts of West Bengal and five districts of north Bihar.
