New Delhi, Nov 13 (NationPress) On Thursday, Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan convened a meeting with Deputy Chairman Harivansh and the Secretary General of the Upper House to strategize for the forthcoming Winter Session at Parliament House, as per an official statement.
The agenda focused on the logistics for business transactions and facilities for the Members of Parliament (MPs) who will pose questions.
This Winter Session will also serve as the inaugural appearance of Vice President Radhakrishnan in his role as Rajya Sabha Chairman. He officially took the oath of office as the 15th Vice President on September 12.
On October 21, Radhakrishnan toured various divisions of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat at Parliament House and engaged with the staff. He expressed gratitude for their pivotal roles in promoting the smooth and effective operation of the Rajya Sabha.
His visit included essential sections such as the Table Office, Legislative Section, Question Branch, Members' Salaries and Allowances Branch, Members' Amenities Section, Bill Office, Notice Office, Lobby Office, and Reporters' Branch.
He motivated the officers and staff to uphold their dedication and professionalism, enhance parliamentary operations, and remain devoted to national service. During this visit, the Vice President also conveyed Diwali greetings.
The Winter Session of Parliament is anticipated to commence on December 1 and run at least until December 19.
Previously, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju shared in a message on X that, “The Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu ji has approved the Government’s proposal to convene the Winter Session of Parliament from December 1, 2025, to December 19, 2025 (subject to exigencies of Parliamentary business).”
He expressed optimism for a smooth business transaction in the upcoming session. “I look forward to a constructive and meaningful Session that fortifies our democracy and meets the aspirations of the people,” he wrote.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament saw 21 sittings between July 21 and August 21, with both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha experiencing low productivity due to ongoing disruptions.
While the Lok Sabha operated for only 37 hours out of a planned 120 hours, the Rajya Sabha managed 41 hours and 15 minutes, resulting in productivity rates of only 31% and 38.8%, respectively.
