Kolkata, Nov 13 (NationPress) The Speaker of the West Bengal Assembly, Biman Bandyopadhyay, stated on Thursday evening that he will determine his subsequent actions in light of the Calcutta High Court's division bench ruling that nullified Mukul Roy's membership in the Assembly earlier that day.
The division bench, comprising Justice Debangsu Basak and Justice Md. Shabbar Rashidi, not only annulled Roy's status as a member but also overturned the prior decision made by the Speaker that had declined to revoke Roy's membership.
In response to the ruling, the Speaker mentioned that he had previously dismissed the BJP's request for the cancellation of Roy’s membership under the Anti-Defection Law after thorough consideration.
