New Delhi, May 28 (NationPress) Emphasizing the vision for a multipolar world, Russia's Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and acknowledged India’s efforts in identifying, tracking, and punishing the perpetrators behind the atrocious April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians.

"There is no doubt regarding Prime Minister Modi's credentials globally. His decisive leadership is guiding India towards increased global stature. Both nations advocate for a multipolar world where no single power or alliance dominates, promoting equal international relations. This principle was reaffirmed during the recent discussions between President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Modi on May 5," Alipov shared in an exclusive interview with IANS.

The Kremlin has announced that President Putin is anticipated to visit India this year, following an invitation from PM Modi, as part of the ongoing tradition of annual meetings between the two leaders.

President Putin's last visit to India occurred on December 6, 2021, during the 21st India-Russia Annual Summit in New Delhi.

On the other hand, PM Modi made two significant visits to Russia last year, attending the 22nd Russia-India Summit in July and participating in the BRICS Summit in Kazan in October.

Although PM Modi was invited by Putin for the Victory Day celebrations earlier this month, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth represented India in Moscow instead.

Ambassador Alipov noted that both nations are currently finalizing details for President Putin's visit to India.

"There is ongoing, intense interaction between our foreign ministers. We anticipate visits from Russian officials to India and high-level Indian officials to Russia this year. The leaders will convene with a comprehensive agenda for discussion, as has always been the case due to the diverse nature of our relationship. Specific dates will be announced by both parties once finalized," said Alipov.

Earlier this month, Putin expressed strong condemnation of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, extending "full support" to India in its battle against terrorism.

Both leaders reiterated their commitment to bolstering the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, with Putin conveying heartfelt condolences for the loss of innocent lives and reaffirming support for India's fight against terrorism, stressing that the criminals behind the heinous act, along with their supporters, must face justice.

"This was an appalling crime, a shocking attack on April 22 that drew widespread condemnation. All of Russia, including President Putin, expressed solidarity with India, sending a special message to Prime Minister Modi to convey our sympathies and expectations for the culprits to be identified, tracked, and punished—which ultimately came to fruition," Ambassador Alipov told IANS.

"We have consistently maintained that there should be no double standards in addressing terrorism, whether it be transnational or otherwise. We stand united in this regard. Last year, India also swiftly voiced support for Russia following a significant terror attack on a shopping mall in Moscow. We collaborate closely at the UN, where Russia has backed a draft convention proposed by India to combat terrorism, which we hope will be adopted promptly," he added.
