Agartala, May 7 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, announced on Wednesday that the 'Saharsh' curriculum has been introduced in the state to liberate children from the pressures of academic burdens.
During the inauguration of the 'Saharsh Utsav 2025', held at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, he highlighted that the primary aim of the 'Saharsh' curriculum is to offer children a high-quality education in a fun-filled environment, moving away from mere textbook reliance. He remarked, “Tripura is home to the northeast's first Saharsh curriculum.”
A senior official from the Education department stated that the 'Saharsh' curriculum aligns with the principles established by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), and was developed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) of the Tripura government.
The Chief Minister elaborated that 'Saharsh' signifies learning with joy and discovering happiness within oneself. “One of the goals of the Saharsh program is to boost children's enthusiasm towards schooling and studies, which will be greatly beneficial for them,” he noted. Many people are unfamiliar with such a curriculum. Furthermore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced the National Education Policy 2020 to alleviate various academic pressures faced by students.
Saha indicated that the 'Saharsh' curriculum has been specifically designed for students in grades one to eight, aiming to effectively implement the National Education Policy. It has already garnered significant popularity among students, and it represents an initiative that extends beyond the typical curriculum.
He emphasized that the 'Saharsh' curriculum will not only focus on textbook learning but will also play a crucial role in cultivating a sense of patriotism, fearlessness, compassion, and social responsibility among future citizens in a joyful setting.
This innovative program was launched for the first time in the state in 2023, making it a pioneering effort in the northeastern region of India. It was developed through collaborative efforts from teachers, trainers, and educational experts, adhering to the National Education Policy. Tripura is now recognized as a leading state in various sectors, according to Saha.
He also noted that the Prime Minister places significant emphasis on delivering quality education. “We must strengthen the educational foundations of our children to foster a love for learning. Education should be ingrained with joy, allowing children to think creatively for the nation's future,” he concluded.
Notable attendees at the event included Ravel Hemendra Kumar, Special Secretary to the Education Department, N.C. Sharma, Director of Education, L. Darlong, Director of SCERT, Richa Gupta, a United Nations Young Leader from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and other senior officials from the Education Department. Approximately 400 schools across the state participated in this event virtually.
