Bhopal, Nov 10 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate virtually in the birth anniversary festivities of Bhagwan Birsa Munda from Jabalpur on November 15, as announced by the Madhya Pradesh cabinet following its meeting on Monday.
A simultaneous state-level gathering is scheduled in Alirajpur, while all 55 districts will host local events celebrating tribal accomplishments in education and sports.
Numerous social organizations will also take part in these celebrations across various districts. The Jabalpur program aims to highlight Madhya Pradesh’s rich tribal heritage. Additionally, the government plans to launch an app providing comprehensive information about tribal welfare initiatives.
“The Prime Minister's presence will motivate our youth. We are organizing a cultural showcase featuring numerous tribal artists,” stated Chaitanya Kashyap, the Minister for MSMEs, after the cabinet meeting.
The cabinet has decided to honor 1,100 tribal students who achieved top ranks in board examinations and 750 athletes who earned medals in national competitions.
In Alirajpur, Deputy CM Jagdish Devda will spearhead the event at the Birsa Munda Smriti Sthal. “We will commemorate Ulgulan and Birsa’s sacrifice,” the minister remarked.
A grand 51-foot statue of the tribal leader will be inaugurated. District Collectors are tasked with organizing mini-marathons and traditional sports events on November 15. Schools will conduct half-day sessions to broadcast the Prime Minister’s address.
“Every child should be familiar with Birsa’s story,” emphasized School Education Minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh.

In Jabalpur, rehearsals commenced Monday evening, with Gond, Baiga, and Bharia artists preparing war cries and folk dances. A troupe of 500 women will perform the Saila dance. The district administration has identified 180 tribal achievers for recognition. Local representatives will lead events in each block. Social organizations are also involved in blood donation camps and tree-plantation initiatives.
