Patna, April 14 (NationPress) After being elected as the head of the BJP Legislature Party and the NDA, Samrat Choudhary is poised to take on the role of the next Chief Minister of Bihar.

This announcement was made during a legislative party meeting led by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and subsequently confirmed during the NDA gathering, where the outgoing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar declared Choudhary as the new NDA leader in Bihar.

Choudhary's political foundation is deeply embedded in a notable family legacy.

His father, Shakuni Chaudhary, has been a significant player in Bihar's political arena, having held multiple terms as both an MLA and MP.

In addition, his mother, Parvati Devi, has also served as an MLA representing the Tarapur constituency.

Growing up in a politically active household, Choudhary cultivated a profound understanding of political dynamics from a young age.

Interestingly, he embarked on his political journey with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), later aligning with the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), and ultimately solidifying his position within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He became actively involved in politics in 1990 and was appointed as the Agriculture Minister in Bihar in 1999.

Choudhary successfully contested elections from the Parbatta assembly constituency in both 2000 and 2010.

In 2010, he took on the role of Chief Whip of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly.

Since 2018, he has emerged as a prominent leader within the BJP.

In 2019, he was named BJP State Vice President under the leadership of Nityanand Rai, progressively becoming one of the most influential figures in Bihar politics.

Choudhary gained significant recognition when Nitish Kumar severed ties with the BJP to form a Mahagathbandhan government.

At that time, as the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, he made a notable pledge—vowing to keep his traditional turban, or Muraittha, on until Kumar was removed from the Chief Minister's position.

This pledge became a defining milestone in his political journey.

In 2023, Choudhary was named BJP State President, further reinforcing his leadership status.

Following Kumar's return to the NDA, Choudhary was appointed as Deputy Chief Minister, also assuming responsibility for the Home Department, marking a first for him.

As he approaches the role of Chief Minister, Choudhary is anticipated to be a pivotal figure in Bihar's political landscape, particularly with the upcoming 2029 Lok Sabha elections and the 2030 Assembly elections, where he is likely to face significant opposition.
