Jaipur, March 19 (NationPress) A minimum of eight students sustained injuries when the school bus they were aboard was involved in an accident on the Jodhpur-Jaisalmer National Highway on Wednesday.
The bus, affiliated with Holy Mission School, collided with a truck near Kui Inda Crusher, in proximity to Balesar town.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. and resulted in injuries to eight schoolchildren.
The accident transpired as the bus, transporting students and staff, had just navigated past the Kui intersection. A truck approaching from the opposite direction suddenly made a turn towards a hotel without the driver verifying the side mirror. This sudden maneuver left the bus driver unable to regain control, leading to a collision. The force of the impact was so intense that the truck’s oil tank ruptured.
Upon hearing the noise, local residents hurried to the scene. They were the first responders, assisting in evacuating the children from the bus.
The injured students were transported to Balesar Community Health Center using private vehicles.
Two students, in serious condition, were referred to Jodhpur for further medical attention, while the other six were discharged after receiving initial treatment.
Balesar police station in-charge, Mool Singh Bhati, confirmed that he and his team arrived at the scene promptly after receiving news of the accident.
The injured students were taken to the hospital, and both vehicles involved were confiscated and taken to the police station.
The remaining students were transported back to school in a different bus.
Fortunately, there were no life-threatening injuries reported, and an inquiry into the incident is currently underway.
Recently, three students from National Law University (NLU) of Jodhpur tragically lost their lives, with several others injured in a separate bus accident that occurred in Nagaur. These students were returning to the university from Chandigarh when their bus overturned on the Ladnun road at approximately 5:30 a.m.
