Srinagar, March 16 (NationPress) The J&K Police announced on Sunday the recovery of the body of the second individual from a group of three who disappeared in Kulgam district on February 13. Showkat Ahmad Bajad, son of Mohammad Sadiq Bajad, a resident of Chata Doonda, Rajouri (currently living in Chandian Pajan, Qazigund), was found in Vaishow Nallah in the Mah Ashmuji area of Kulgam district this morning, according to police reports.

The three missing individuals, all part of the Scheduled Tribe (ST) Gujjar community, included Riyaz Ahmad Bajad, his younger brother Showkat Ahmad Bajad, and a third individual, Mukhtar Ahmad, who went missing from Qazigund on February 13.

Following their disappearance, families filed a missing person report at the local police station.

The body of another young man, Riyaz Ahmad Bajad, was recovered three days ago from the same stream.

All three individuals hailed from the Rajouri district of the Jammu division and were employed as laborers in the Qazigund region of Kulgam.

On February 13, they had set out for Ashmuji village in Kulgam to attend a family function but went missing prior to their arrival.

Their mobile phones have remained turned off since their disappearance.

A search operation involving the Kulgam police, SDRF, and NDRF was initiated to locate the missing individuals.

So far, two bodies have been recovered, while efforts continue to find the third individual, Mukhtar Ahmad.

Senior Gujjar leader and parliament member Mian Altaf Ahmad visited the family of Riyaz Ahmad Bajad to offer his condolences.

Mian Altaf has called for compensation for the victim's family and expressed hope that the police would locate the remaining two individuals alive.

With the discovery of the second body, the prospects of finding the third individual alive are diminishing.

In a similar incident, three individuals, including a minor, went missing in Kathua district on March 5 while attending a wedding party.

Their bodies were later retrieved by security forces from the higher elevations of Kathua two days after they went missing on March 5.
