Srinagar, April 11 (NationPress) The remains of the third civilian, who went missing alongside two others in J&K’s Kulgam district around mid-February, were discovered on Friday, according to officials.

Authorities reported that the remains of Mukhtar Ahmad were found in a mountain stream within the district.

Local residents spotted the body and promptly notified the police. A police team arrived at the scene and retrieved it, subsequently transporting it to the district hospital in Kulgam town for the necessary legal procedures.

On February 13, three individuals from Rajouri district in the Jammu division, namely Riyaz Ahmad Bajad, his younger sibling Showkat Ahmad Bajad, and Mukhtar Ahmad, went missing in the Qazigund area of Kulgam.

The trio had set out for Ashmuji village in Kulgam to attend a family event, but vanished en route.

Officials reported that their mobile devices had remained powered off since their disappearance.

Previously, the bodies of the other two missing individuals were also retrieved from the same stream.

“The police had been actively searching for the body of the third individual since then. The search concluded today with the recovery of Mukhtar Ahmad’s body,” stated an official.

The circumstances surrounding the disappearance and subsequent death of these three civilians remain enigmatic.

Senior Gujjar leader and MP, Mian Altaf Ahmad, visited the families of the missing individuals. He urged the authorities to locate the missing persons and to unravel the mystery of their disappearance.

The families of the three deceased have called for an investigation into the entire incident to ensure that those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.

So far, the police have not released any information regarding the suspects connected to the disappearance and subsequent deaths of these three civilians.

In a related incident, three civilians, identified as Varun Singh, Yogesh Singh, and Darshan Singh, disappeared in the Kathua district of Jammu division on March 5 while returning from a wedding in the Billawar area.

Their bodies were recovered on March 8 near a water body in the upper reaches of Billawar. Police indicated that the three had been murdered by terrorists.
