Chhattisgarh: Were Seven Maoists Neutralized in an Operation at Indravati National Park?

Raipur, June 7 (NationPress) In a significant operation, five Maoists were eliminated during two encounters with security forces in the Indravati National Park region of Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, as reported by police officials on Saturday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the operation's success, expressing his desire to meet the courageous soldiers involved in the anti-Maoist campaign.

With the latest developments, a total of seven Maoists, including prominent leaders Sudhakar and Bhaskar, have been neutralized in the last three days, according to the reports.

"Security forces have successfully recovered the bodies of seven Maoists during the ongoing anti-Naxal operations in the Indravati National Park area," stated a police officer.

Intensifying their campaign in Bijapur district, security forces have achieved the elimination of seven Maoist cadres over the past three days.

Among those killed are Gautam (a Central Committee Member, also known as Sudhakar) and Bhaskar (a member of the Telangana State Committee).

The encounters, occurring between June 5 and June 7, have resulted in multiple insurgent casualties.

The initial confrontation on June 5 led to the death of Sudhakar, a senior Maoist leader known for establishing Maoist educational centers in the Dandakaranya region.

His body was recovered following a fierce exchange of fire.

The subsequent day saw the elimination of Bhaskar, a commander linked to the Telangana State Committee, marking a serious setback for the insurgent network.

As operations continued into the night of June 6-7, three more bodies were found, including two women and one man.

On June 7, two additional male Maoist cadres were killed in another encounter.

The identities of these five insurgents remain undisclosed, and efforts to confirm their details are ongoing.

Security personnel recovered a significant amount of arms and ammunition from the encounter locations, including two AK-47 rifles and various Maoist documents.

The operation has been physically demanding, with several soldiers sustaining injuries from snake bites, honeybee stings, dehydration, and other operational challenges.

Medical teams have ensured prompt treatment, and all injured personnel are reported to be in stable condition.

Search operations continue in the dense forest terrain to track any remaining Maoist operatives and secure the area.

Officials have indicated that a detailed report on the recovered weapons and materials will be released once all field inputs are assessed.

This ongoing crackdown against Maoist insurgents in Bijapur reflects the government’s determination to dismantle their presence and restore stability to the region.
