Bengaluru, Jan 28 (NationPress) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his strong belief in the judiciary's ability to deliver justice regarding the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. CM Siddaramaiah stands as the primary accused, with his wife, B.M. Parvathi, identified as the second accused in this case.

The Karnataka High Court's Dharwad bench has reserved judgment on a petition calling for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the MUDA scandal.

When questioned about any apprehensions regarding the situation, Siddaramaiah remarked, “Why should I be concerned? How will I know what the judge's verdict will be? I have faith that I will receive justice.

On the topic of the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) notice to his wife Parvathi, the Chief Minister stated, “The court has suspended the notice issued by the ED. The judge challenged the ED, asking what the urgency was in this matter. The court noted that the investigation is ongoing and that the case's transfer to the CBI is still under deliberation. The judge deemed the rush at this stage as inappropriate.”

When questioned if the ED's notice is politically driven, he responded, “Isn’t it? The entire MUDA case is politically motivated.”

The Karnataka High Court's Dharwad bench, led by Justice M. Nagaprasanna, on Monday halted the summons directed at Siddaramaiah's wife, B.M. Parvathi, and State Urban Development Minister, Byrathi Suresh, concerning the MUDA land scandal.

The bench expressed skepticism about the ED's urgency, inquiring, “What is the tearing hurry?” while issuing the order.

Siddaramaiah's wife, Parvathi, who is also named as a second accused, was summoned to appear before the ED on Tuesday (January 28).

Minister Byrathi Suresh, a close associate of the CM, was scheduled to meet with ED officials on Monday.

Both Parvathi and Suresh sought judicial relief, requesting a stay on the ED's summons.

The High Court granted a stay on the ED's summons until February 10, pending the next hearing.

The Dharwad bench of the Karnataka High Court, under Justice M. Nagaprasanna, has reserved its judgment concerning the petition for a CBI investigation into the MUDA scam following the conclusion of arguments.

Allegations suggest that Siddaramaiah leveraged his political influence to obtain compensation for 14 plots of land under his wife's name in exchange for 3 acres and 16 guntas of land acquired by MUDA.

The petitioner, Snehamayi Krishna, opposed the ongoing investigation led by the Karnataka Lokayukta and demanded a CBI investigation into the scandal.

In reserving the matter for judgment, the bench also instructed the Karnataka Lokayukta to maintain its investigation into the MUDA scam and present its further report on the day of the judgment.
