Six Arrested in Two Voter ID Fraud Cases in Delhi's Shaheen Bagh

New Delhi, Dec 31 (NationPress) Six individuals have been detained in connection with voter ID fraud in two separate incidents within Delhi's Shaheen Bagh, as confirmed by the police.

As per the police report, on December 25, they received a complaint from Vinod Kumar, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) from Okhla, stating that four suspects had submitted applications for voter ID cards or address modifications using forged documents. A case was officially registered on December 26 against these four individuals under Section 336 (Forgery for the purpose of cheating) and Section 340 (Using forged documents as genuine) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) at the Shaheen Bagh police station.

On December 29, another complaint emerged from Kumar, echoing similar allegations that four applications for new voter registrations had been filed with forged documents, leading to the registration of an additional case under Section 336/340 of the BNS.

Ravi Kumar Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast Delhi), stated that during the investigation, the addresses of the suspects were tracked, resulting in the arrest of six individuals across both cases.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Mohammad Naim (32), Rizwan Ul Haq (30), Sabana Khatoon (37), Rajat Srivastava (27), Sachin Kumar (27), and Trilok Chand (51).

All six individuals were discovered to possess forged documents such as Aadhaar cards and electricity bills, which were utilized to create or amend voter ID cards.

Throughout the investigation, a dedicated police team worked diligently to identify and detain those involved in the voter ID fraud. Following extensive efforts, the addresses of the accused were traced, leading to their arrests.

The Delhi Police has stated that they are actively working to identify and apprehend additional individuals linked to this forgery network.

Evidence amassed thus far suggests a systematic abuse of technology and the use of forged documents to manipulate the electoral registration process, according to the Delhi Police.

A personal computer, which was utilized for creating the forged documents, was confiscated by the Delhi Police during the investigation.

Mohammad Naim, an electrician residing in Shaheen Bagh, had submitted a request for an address change on his voter ID using a forged electricity bill.

Rizwan Ul Haq, who operates a cyber cafe in Shaheen Bagh, forged the electricity bill for Naim using Photoshop.

Sabana Khatoon, also a resident of Shaheen Bagh, applied for an address change utilizing a forged electricity bill. She is a housewife.

Rajat Srivastava, a cyber cafe operator from Faridabad, used an online PDF editing tool to create forged electricity bills for various individuals and is implicated in both cases registered at Shaheen Bagh police station.

Sachin Kumar, who works in the housekeeping department at a city hospital and lives in Malviya Nagar, contacted Trilok Chand to generate documents for his deaf and mute uncle, Kisunee, with the alleged intention of transferring land from his uncle's name.

Trilok Chand, a private tuition teacher residing in Chirag Dilli, allegedly collaborated with Rajat Srivastava to produce the forged documents and has known the alleged Kisunee for several years.
