Jaipur, Feb 25 (NationPress) Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani became emotional during the proceedings on Tuesday, claiming that State Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra insulted him and used foul language.
In a display of his feelings, Speaker Devnani stated, "Throughout my five terms in this House, I have never encountered such language. I have always upheld neutrality, yet these unfounded accusations have caused me great pain."
He further commented, "Upon hearing these remarks, I believe he is unworthy of being an MLA, but I will allow the House to make that judgment."
The Assembly has been embroiled in a standstill due to a 'Dadi' comment made by a state Minister regarding the late former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The situation intensified on Tuesday when Congress MLAs, who had been suspended, attempted to force their way into the Assembly, resulting in clashes with security forces.
Outside the Assembly, Dotasra reiterated that his personal apology was not part of any agreement and pointed out the existing rifts within the government.
In response to the suspension proceedings, Congress leaders protested outside the Assembly for nearly an hour.
This ongoing Assembly deadlock, which has lasted for five days, originated from the Minister's comments about Indira Gandhi.
However, matters deteriorated after the State Congress President declined to apologize in the House on Monday.
Compounding the chaos, Dotasra's supposed offensive comments towards the Speaker following Monday's session further complicated discussions, hindering the reinstatement of six suspended Congress MLAs and rekindling friction between the ruling party and the Opposition.
With the suspended MLAs now prohibited from re-entering the House, the political stalemate in the Assembly remains unresolved.
Meanwhile, state Minister Jawaharsingh Bedham mentioned to IANS that those who brought the Speaker to tears will face consequences.
