Kolkata, Sep 11 (NationPress) 'Khola Hawa', a socio-cultural group recognized as a BJP think tank in West Bengal, is set to host a special screening of 'The Bengal Files' in Kolkata on September 13.
Under the leadership of former Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta, this event will showcase the film, which premiered nationwide on September 5.
The exclusive screening of Vivek Agnihotri's work is scheduled for 4 PM at Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Bhasha Bhavan within the National Library located in South Kolkata.
This screening will be a closed-door event, accessible only by invitation. The decision to present the film comes in light of its absence from theatrical release in West Bengal.
Dasgupta made the announcement on X, sharing an invitation for the event, stating, "ANNOUNCEMENT: Khola Hawa is honored to present the inaugural screening in Kolkata of the iconic film 'The Bengal Files.'"
The invite also noted that director Vivek Agnihotri and actor Pallavi Joshi will attend the event.
Attendance will be restricted to those possessing an invitation letter.
In response to this announcement, Trinamool Congress spokesperson Arup Chakraborty remarked that although the film is available nationwide, it has not attracted viewers. "The director is distressed. He previously claimed that Arindam Chatterjee is related to Rabindranath Tagore. Later, they corrected themselves, saying it was Arindam Tagore. Bengalis are fortunate they didn't mistakenly call BJP leader Anurag Thakur the son of Rabindranath Tagore," he noted.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Sajal Ghosh has raised concerns regarding the screening's approval. "The event has been announced, but there is uncertainty about police permission. The state lacks law and order, and the film was previously barred from release here. It's unclear if this screening will proceed," he stated.
