Kolkata, July 22 (NationPress) A second-year electrical engineering student from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur was discovered dead on campus under mysterious circumstances.
The student, known as Chandradip Pawar, was found lifeless on Monday night.
This marks the second death of a student at the institute within a span of four days.
On July 18, Ritam Mondal, a fourth-year mechanical engineering student, was also found dead under unexplained circumstances in his hostel room.
According to information shared by the institute officials with local authorities, after having dinner on Monday night, the deceased student took some medication as prescribed by his doctor. The local police reported that the tablet may have lodged in his trachea, leading to his demise.
Pawar, originally from Madhya Pradesh, was rushed to a hospital located within the IIT Kharagpur campus, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel. His body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, with the true cause of death expected to be revealed after the autopsy report.
The local police have initiated an investigation into this incident. Pawar's family was informed on Monday night and arrived in Kharagpur by Tuesday morning.
