BRS President and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) endorsed Sunitha as the party's candidate.
Sunitha is the spouse of Maganti Gopinath, whose passing led to this vacancy.
The party stated that KCR's choice to nominate Sunitha honors Gopinath's contributions to both the party and the constituency's residents, acknowledging their aspirations.
This announcement was expected, as BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) had hinted at Sunitha being the candidate.
She has been actively engaging in meetings that KTR has conducted with party workers within the constituency over the past few days.
During these gatherings, KTR urged constituents to support Sunitha.
The by-election is anticipated to take place in the last week of October or the first week of November.
The ruling Congress and opposition BJP have yet to disclose their candidates.
Gopinath passed away on June 8 following a cardiac arrest just three days prior. He was 63.
Having been re-elected as MLA on a BRS ticket for a third consecutive term in 2023, he also served as the President of the party’s Hyderabad unit.
