Supreme Court Collegium Proposes Judicial Appointments Across Four High Courts

New Delhi, Dec 26 (NationPress) The Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna, has made recommendations for the appointment of judges across four different high courts in the nation.

The Collegium has sanctioned the proposal for appointing three judicial officers as judges of the Rajasthan High Court.

"In a meeting on 22nd December 2024, the Supreme Court Collegium approved the following judicial officers for the Rajasthan High Court: (i) Shri Chandra Shekhar Sharma, (ii) Shri Pramil Kumar Mathur, and (iii) Shri Chandra Prakash Shrimali," stated a release from the apex court’s official website.

Additionally, the Collegium has recommended advocate Pravin Sheshrao Patil as a judge of the Bombay High Court.

The Collegium has also endorsed the appointment of advocate Praveen Kumar Giri as a judge of the Allahabad High Court.

"In its meeting held on 22nd December 2024, the Supreme Court Collegium approved the proposal for Shri Praveen Kumar Giri, Advocate, to serve as a Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad," the SC's website reported.

During the same meeting on December 22, the Collegium also greenlit the proposal for the appointment of judicial officer Ashish Naithani as a judge of the Uttarakhand High Court.

On Thursday, Justice Guhanathan Narendar took the oath of office as Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.

Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (retd) administered the oath to Justice Narendar G at a ceremony held at Raj Bhawan, attended by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, puisne judges from the Uttarakhand High Court, and other notable figures.

On December 23, the Centre approved the appointments of Chief Justices for the High Courts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

In a post on X, Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal announced that President Droupadi Murmu appointed Justice Narendar G. as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court and Justice G.S. Sandhawalia as the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

"Exercising the power granted by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President has appointed Shri Justice Guhanathan Narendar, Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, as Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court, effective from the date he assumes charge of office," stated a notification from the Union Ministry of Law and Justice.
