New Delhi, July 28 (NationPress) The Supreme Court on Monday voiced its dissatisfaction regarding the delays in the recruitment process for 26,001 Assistant Acharya (Teacher) positions in Jharkhand.
The apex court issued a strong caution to the state government and its recruitment authority, emphasizing that if the outcomes for all classes and categories are not finalized by August 14, the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, the JSSC Secretary, the Education Secretary, and the Deputy Education Secretary must appear before it in person on August 18.
This intervention is not the first by the apex court; in a previous session, it had explicitly instructed the state government to complete the recruitment process within one month and submit a compliance report.
The court also warned that contempt proceedings would be initiated against officials if this order is disregarded.
During the hearing on Monday, Senior Advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan and Advocate Amritansh Vats, representing the petitioners, pointed out significant deficiencies.
They noted that for Mathematics and Science (Classes 6-8), only 1,661 results have been published from the 5,008 advertised positions, despite 2,734 candidates being summoned for document verification.
Many candidates who achieved scores above the qualifying standards were omitted from document verification without any justification.
The Social Science results for Classes 6-8 remain undelivered, and the results for Assistant Acharya positions for Classes 1-5 have not been announced yet.
The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) commenced the recruitment campaign for 26,001 Assistant Acharya posts in 2023, with examinations being conducted in various phases throughout 2023 and early 2024.
Despite these efforts, there remains a lack of clarity regarding the release of full results, leading to mounting frustration among thousands of candidates.
What has further infuriated the court is that during a recent hearing in the Jharkhand High Court, JSSC officials allegedly mentioned that complete results would not be available until September 2025 — a timeline deemed utterly unacceptable by the Supreme Court.
