What’s Happening in the Faridabad Explosives Case?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, Nov 11 (NationPress) Haryana's Director General of Police, O.P. Singh, announced today that extensive raids are being carried out throughout the state, including at Al Falah Medical College and Hospital in Faridabad. This follows the discovery of a significant cache of explosives, firearms, and ammunition associated with a terror module seized from the city.
The Haryana DGP stated that a thorough search is ongoing at the Al Falah University campus, where several suspects linked to the terror group are being interrogated.
Authorities revealed that over 52 individuals, including faculty members, students, and the principal of the medical college at Al Falah University, have been questioned as part of the investigation.
This development occurs just one day after a deadly explosion on Monday evening near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi, where a Haryana-registered vehicle, a Hyundai i20, detonated near Gate No.1, resulting in at least eight fatalities and numerous injuries.
This situation escalated following the police's dismantling of a terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind in Faridabad, leading to the seizure of 2,900 kg of explosives along with a substantial amount of arms and ammunition.
Additionally, the police have arrested two doctors from Jammu and Kashmir, Adil Ahmad Rather and Muzammil, who were connected to these terror outfits, which reportedly caused panic among the module members and led to the explosion.
“We are in continuous collaboration with the Delhi Police Special Cell and other central agencies, and the Haryana Police are conducting raids promptly based on any intelligence provided by the Delhi Police,” Singh stated.
He also noted that the investigation's reach extends beyond Faridabad, with police conducting search operations in other regions based on intelligence inputs.
“We have placed the entire state on high alert... The investigation's scope has been broadened, and we are consistently coordinating with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Delhi Police Special Cell, and Uttar Pradesh Police,” Singh added.
