New Delhi, Nov 12 (NationPress) India has sent a powerful message in its fight against terrorism with a rapid counter-operation that has dismantled a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) module associated with the November 10 explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort.
This decisive action has uncovered a significant terror conspiracy spanning across Delhi, Haryana, and Jammu & Kashmir, resulting in numerous arrests and the recovery of nearly 3,000 kg of explosives.
Officials indicate that the investigation into the Red Fort blast originated from an FIR filed on October 19 at the Nowgam Police Post in Srinagar, triggered by the emergence of objectionable posters in the vicinity.
As the investigation progressed, Maulvi Irfan Ahmad Waghe was apprehended in Shopian, South Kashmir, along with Zameer Ahmad from Wakura, Ganderbal, during the period of October 20-27.
The probe accelerated with the arrest of Dr Adeel in Saharanpur on November 5, followed by the recovery of an AK-56 rifle and ammunition from Anantnag Hospital on November 7.
Significantly, the following day, security forces unearthed additional firearms, pistols, and explosives from Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad on November 8.
Interrogations revealed further leads, resulting in the capture of Dr Muzzammil from Al-Falah Medical College.
Based on these developments, additional arrests were made, and a substantial cache of arms and explosives was confiscated.
Major breakthroughs occurred on November 9 and 10, with the apprehension of Madarasi in Faridabad and the recovery of 2,563 kg of explosives from the residence of Hafeez Mohammad Ishtiyaq, the Imam of Al-Falah Mosque in Dhera Colony.
Moreover, an additional 358 kg of explosive materials, detonators, and timers were seized, culminating in a total recovery of nearly 3,000 kg.
One group member, Dr Umar, employed at Al-Falah Medical College, managed to escape amid the intensified crackdown.
CCTV footage verified that Dr Umar was the driver of the vehicle that detonated near the Red Fort. Sources indicate that the explosives used were consistent with those recovered in Faridabad, implying a connection to the same terror module.
According to sources, “Dr Umar’s panic and desperation due to the successful crackdown likely precipitated the Red Fort explosion.”
The investigation is ongoing to determine whether the blast was intentional or accidental.
After the explosion at 6.55 p.m. on November 10, Union Home Minister Amit Shah swiftly reviewed the situation, visiting both the injured at LNJP Hospital and the blast site that very night.
The NSG, NIA, and forensic teams were immediately deployed.
