Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh), May 27 (NationPress) The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) commenced its annual Mahanadu gathering here on Tuesday, where General Secretary Nara Lokesh unveiled six pivotal resolutions aimed at preparing the party for the future.
On the inaugural day of the three-day Mahanadu, Lokesh presented six significant resolutions for deliberation and approval.
"As times evolve, so do the needs and aspirations of our citizens. The TDP, while remaining grounded in its founding tenets, must adapt to the changing landscape," stated Lokesh, who also serves as the state’s Minister for Human Resources Development and Information Technology and is the son of TDP President and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
Lokesh described the six resolutions as a strategic roadmap for the party's future. He urged party members to contribute to building a stronger, cohesive, and forward-looking Telugu Desam.
Speaking to thousands of delegates from across Andhra Pradesh, Lokesh reminisced about the party’s 43-year history. "TDP was established by the iconic Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) to uphold the dignity of the Telugu people, support farmers, uplift workers, and provide essential services to the underprivileged. While many parties have emerged with caste or regional biases, TDP stands as the sole party created for the Telugu identity," he remarked.
He highlighted the necessity for modern reforms within the party to maintain relevance and effectiveness. "We must engage in discussions and implement strategies that propel the party forward for the next four decades. Change is unavoidable, and TDP has always embraced evolution with the times."
Lokesh introduced six foundational resolutions to steer the party and its constituents toward a more robust future.
The first resolution focused on global recognition for the Telugu identity. It asserts that TDP will work to enhance the global stature of the Telugu community, transcending caste, religion, or region. From NTR’s defiance of central authority to Chandrababu Naidu showcasing Telugu pride on the world stage, this legacy must continue, he emphasized.
The second resolution, Youth Empowerment (Yuvagalam), centers on prioritizing opportunities for the youth. It noted that the party welcomes leaders of all ages, promoting merit over hierarchy. Lokesh pointed out the creation of thousands of jobs, attracting major industries, and the goal to generate 20 lakh employment opportunities.
For the third resolution, titled Women Empowerment (Sthree Shakti), Lokesh recognized the TDP's robust track record of gender equity, from NTR’s initiative to grant women equal property rights to Chandrababu Naidu’s economic empowerment efforts. He pledged to ensure safety, representation, and equal responsibility for women across all sectors, including within the party.
The fourth resolution, Social Re-engineering - Pro-poor, aims to eradicate poverty through innovative welfare models. From subsidized essentials to pensions and housing, Lokesh reaffirmed the party's commitment to social justice, particularly for marginalized communities, under the P-4 (poverty alleviation) initiative.
Regarding the fifth resolution on Support for Farmers, Lokesh emphasized that farmers are the backbone of society, and TDP has consistently supported them. From irrigation to crop subsidies, the party’s initiatives have positioned Andhra Pradesh among the leaders in agriculture. Lokesh assured ongoing support, ensuring fair pricing and financial aid for the farming community.
The sixth resolution, Cadre as the Backbone - Workers are Leaders, saw Lokesh paying tribute to dedicated party workers, sharing stories of their bravery and sacrifice. "In TDP, the worker is the true leader," he stated. The party has provided insurance, education, healthcare, and employment support to its cadre and is now developing a dedicated plan to further empower them.
