Patna, Aug 7 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, set off for Delhi on Thursday, indicating his intention to participate in an important meeting of the INDIA bloc that is taking place in the national capital.
Before his departure, Tejashwi spoke to the media and mentioned his plans to visit his sister, who resides in Delhi, on the occasion of Rakshabandhan.
“Today, a significant meeting of the INDIA bloc is scheduled in Delhi, and I will be attending it. Additionally, since it’s Rakshabandhan and my sister is in Delhi, I will meet her,” Tejashwi remarked.
During his media interaction, the RJD leader took a strong stance against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, criticizing the government's lack of response to international events that he claimed directly affect India.
“The President of the United States has raised tariffs by 50 percent, yet PM Modi has chosen to remain silent. This is resulting in significant losses for the country,” he alleged.
Tejashwi also referred to the US President's recurrent claims about his involvement in brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.
“The US President has asserted on 28 occasions that he played a role in facilitating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, but Prime Minister Modi hasn’t addressed this even once. These are the same individuals who will come to Bihar and proclaim to be ‘Vishwa Guru’. This reflects on how the nation is being governed,” he expressed.
Tejashwi Yadav also addressed recent reports that the Election Commission had issued a notice against him regarding alleged discrepancies related to voter ID cards.
“We have not received any notice from the Election Commission. What we have received is from the level of the sub-divisional officer, and we are addressing that,” he clarified.
He raised questions about the origins of the complaint, asking: “Who issued the two EPIC numbers? The individual responsible for issuing them is now questioning us about their origin. The error lies with someone else, yet we are the ones being held accountable.”
When queried about gangster-turned-politician Anant Singh—who was recently released from prison and intends to run for the upcoming elections on a JD-U ticket—Tejashwi opted not to provide a direct response.
“Please refrain from asking me this question. Our spokesperson, Bantu Singh, will address this,” he concluded.
