Hyderabad, Sep 9 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, is currently in New Delhi to rally support for the INDIA bloc's candidate in the upcoming Vice-Presidential election. On Tuesday, he organized a breakfast meeting for Congress MPs from Telangana prior to the voting.

The Chief Minister's Office has stated that he provided critical guidance to the MPs as they prepared to cast their votes.

Arriving in the national capital the previous night, he aims to be actively engaged during the Vice-Presidential election.

As the candidate, B. Sudershan Reddy, hails from Telangana, CM Revanth Reddy is deeply invested in garnering last-minute support for his nomination.

He is reportedly reaching out to MPs from parties outside the INDIA bloc.

Sudershan Reddy, a former Supreme Court judge, is in a direct contest with C. P. Radhakrishnan representing the NDA.

CM Reddy has played a pivotal role in endorsing Sudershan Reddy's candidacy. The former judge led the Independent Expert Working Group (IEWG) set up by the Telangana government to review data from the caste survey, submitting a report to the Chief Minister in July.

Sudershan Reddy was present when the Chief Minister presented findings from the caste survey to the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge last month.

Revanth Reddy has urged all political parties from both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to support Sudershan Reddy, a fellow Telugu.

He invoked the slogan of Telugu self-respect, coined by N. T. Rama Rao, founder of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), reminiscing about the unity shown by various parties in support of former leaders such as Neelam Sanjiva Reddy, P. V. Narasimha Rao, and M. Venkaiah Naidu.

However, his appeal received minimal support from parties in the Telugu states. The principal opposition party in Telangana, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which has four Rajya Sabha members, has declared its intention to abstain from voting.

The TDP and Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena, aligned with the BJP at both the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh, are part of the NDA. Even the opposition YSR Congress Party has chosen to back Radhakrishnan.

The Congress Party holds eight Lok Sabha and three Rajya Sabha seats from Telangana, with no representation from Andhra Pradesh.

Point of View

The situation highlights the complexities within regional politics. While CM Revanth Reddy is making significant efforts to unify support for the INDIA bloc, the lack of cooperation from other parties underscores the fragmented political landscape in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The outcome of this election could have broader implications for regional alliances and voter sentiment.
