Hyderabad, Dec 3 (NationPress) A crude bomb explosion occurred at a railway station in Kothagudem town within Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Wednesday, resulting in the death of a stray dog and causing widespread panic among travelers. The explosive device detonated on the railway track near Platform No. 1 at Bhadrachalam Road railway station, where it reportedly killed the dog.
The stray dog is believed to have bitten into a black bag that was abandoned on the platform, triggering the explosion.
This incident caused immediate panic among passengers, who fled for safety as the sound of the blast resonated throughout the station.
Following the explosion, Railway Police and local law enforcement quickly arrived at the scene and secured the area.
In a subsequent search operation, the police discovered four additional crude bombs in a nearby garbage dump. These onion-shaped explosives were found inside three bags.
Authorities indicated that such crude bombs are often used for hunting wild animals.
Bhadradri Kothagudem Superintendent of Police Rohit Raju stated that the stray dog likely mistook the bag on the platform for food. It dragged the bag from the garbage dump onto the railway tracks, leading to the explosion that resulted in its demise.
The police have initiated an investigation to identify the individual responsible for discarding the bombs in the garbage.
Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from around the railway station.
SP Rohit Raju urged the public to refrain from spreading rumors about the incident on social media.
He confirmed that there is no other angle to the incident and cautioned against disseminating false information.
This incident took place a day after Chief Minister Revanth Reddy visited the district for various official engagements.
Security measures had been heightened in the station area due to the presence of VVIPs.
