Hyderabad, Jan 8 (NationPress) The government of Telangana is set to launch an initiative aimed at providing breakfast and lunch to students enrolled in all government schools.
On Thursday, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy conducted a review of the breakfast and lunch program operated by an NGO in the government schools of the Kodangal Assembly constituency, which he represents. He instructed officials to assess the viability of rolling out the program statewide.
NGO representatives informed the Chief Minister of their willingness to implement the program across the state, contingent upon the government providing adequate space and necessary support.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for officials to devise plans ensuring timely meal delivery to all students by establishing one centralized kitchen for every two constituencies.
He directed State Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao to convene a meeting with district collectors to decide on allocating two acres of land or securing a 99-year lease for the creation of these centralized kitchens.
Additionally, the Chief Minister urged officials to assign a greater number of schools to girls in the initial phase of the Young India Integrated Residential Schools (YIIRC) project and set a three-year deadline for constructing one YIIRC for both boys and girls in each constituency.
During a high-level review of the Education Department, he asserted that boys' schools should be established in the next phase in constituencies where girls' schools have already been created.
The Chief Minister also mandated the exploration of constructing solar kitchens in integrated residential schools under the PM-KUSUM scheme and emphasized the need to promptly address bills related to the construction of integrated schools.
He instructed Education Department officials to finalize 23 new school buildings in Greater Hyderabad by the upcoming academic year, insisting that each school should occupy a minimum of 1.50 acres.
The meeting also addressed the proposal to revise the syllabus, with the CM urging changes to the curriculum from the first to the tenth standard to better meet future demands.
Furthermore, officials were tasked with speeding up the construction of Veeranaari Chakali Ilamma Women's University.
