Bhubaneswar, July 4 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi declared an ex-gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh for each family of the Odia victims who tragically lost their lives in the explosion at a manufacturing facility in Pashamylaram, located near Hyderabad in Telangana, on June 30.
The Chief Minister’s Office confirmed that financial assistance would be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the families of the deceased. Moreover, a dedicated team of state officials is actively overseeing the rescue and medical efforts at the site of the disaster.
Tragically, a total of eight workers from Odisha, including three from Ganjam and two from Nabarangpur districts, perished in the explosion.
Reports indicate that a significant explosion took place at the plant in Pashamylaram, in Patancheru Mandal, Sangareddy district on June 30.
This facility specializes in producing Microcrystalline Cellulose powder, a key ingredient used as a binding agent in tablets and capsules.
The casualty count from the fire and explosion at Sigachi Industries Ltd has risen to 39 as one of the injured succumbed to their injuries in a hospital.
One of the injured, Bheem Rao, who was receiving treatment at Dhruva Hospital in Patancheru, passed away on Friday. He hailed from Maharashtra.
In the meantime, Sangareddy District Collector P. Pravinya stated that out of 143 individuals present at the factory during the explosion, 61 managed to exit safely.
Sigachi Industries subsequently revised the death count to 38 from the previously reported 40.
The company also mentioned that among the 33 injured employees, 12 have already been discharged, each receiving Rs 1 lakh as interim relief.
Furthermore, it has committed to providing comprehensive medical and rehabilitation support to those injured employees.
