New Delhi, July 11 (NationPress) Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MLA Aditya Thackeray has sharply criticized Sanjay Sirsat, a member of the Eknath Shinde faction, regarding a controversial video that has gone viral, allegedly depicting him with a bag filled with cash.
While speaking to reporters in Mumbai on Friday, Thackeray remarked, “In that footage, it appears there is nearly one crore rupees in that bag. However, there could be 50 times that amount. Where did these notes originate? Who provided them? What actions have been taken regarding the Income Tax notice issued just two days ago? Will CM Fadnavis address this seriously or simply ignore it?”
He also expressed concern over the delayed Income Tax notice and recalled previous videos involving another MLA, Sanjay Gaikwad. “A legislator engages in violence… yet, there is no response. Everyone is now exhibiting their strength in those vests,” Thackeray said, humorously referencing the vests worn by both Sirsat and Gaikwad.
In a pointed remark directed at Sirsat, Thackeray stated, “They believe nothing will happen to them once they step into the BJP’s cleansing system. But this cannot continue. A thorough investigation is essential.”
When asked about Sirsat's claims regarding the video’s origin, he replied, “If he claims ignorance about the video’s source, then what kind of state was he in? His eyes were open, he was on the phone, yet he was oblivious to who was in front of him? Were they in some sort of daze, perhaps under the influence? This too deserves scrutiny. Was he under the influence?”
Regarding the Public Security Bill, Thackeray called it a “BJP Protection Bill” instead. “They claim it’s aimed at Left Wing Extremism (LWE), but has any of our previous victories against naxalism or terrorism been the result of such legislation?”
The political climate in Maharashtra continues to be tense as further videos and allegations surface, intensifying opposition criticism of the ruling coalition.
