Kerala is preparing for elections, set to take place in a single phase on April 9, with vote counting for the 140-member Assembly scheduled for May 4. The current Assembly’s tenure will conclude on May 23.
The state boasts around 2.70 crore voters, comprising 1.31 crore male voters, 1.38 crore female voters, and 277 voters from the third gender.
These upcoming elections are deemed vital for the Pinarayi Vijayan-led Left Democratic Front (LDF), as Kerala stands as the sole state in India presently administered by the Left. The state, known for its alternating political dynamics between the LDF and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), is also witnessing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerging as a formidable contender, with its electoral share significantly increasing in recent elections.
