Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Amaravati, Feb 20 (NationPress) - The government of Andhra Pradesh has established a one-man committee tasked with recommending appropriate actions against officials involved in the case concerning the alleged supply of adulterated ghee for the Tirumala laddu.
Dinesh Kumar, a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, is set to review the Self-Contained Note (SCN) from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and will suggest suitable measures against committee members and senior officials of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) for their lapses, omissions, and failures in both relaxing and enforcing the ghee tender conditions.
A Government Order (GO) was issued on Friday to formalize the establishment of the one-man committee, which is expected to deliver its report within a span of 45 days.
According to the terms of reference, the committee is responsible for evaluating administrative lapses, omissions, or failures related to the relaxation and enforcement of tender conditions. It will determine if decisions were made with appropriate diligence, ensure recorded justifications and procedural compliance, identify the degree of administrative responsibility of TTD officials and committee members concerning noted lapses, recommend relevant administrative or disciplinary actions, and focus strictly on administrative and governance issues.
The GO specifies that the report will be advisory and will be reviewed by the government for further action.
This order references a case initiated in 2024 by the Tirupati East Police Station concerning claims of supplying adulterated and substandard ghee to TTD.
The Supreme Court on October 4, 2024, assigned the investigation to an independent SIT under the oversight of the Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The GO also indicates that the SIT, after concluding its investigation, filed a charge sheet in court on January 23, 2026, and presented an SCN recommending suitable actions against the errant committee members and senior TTD officials for lapses, omissions, and failures in ghee tender conditions.
Earlier this month, the TDP-led coalition government decided to form the one-man committee.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stated on February 5 that those found guilty will face consequences.
Naidu also mentioned that the CBI has proposed that the state government initiate administrative actions against the involved individuals.
He refuted claims that the SIT cleared the YSRCP in the Tirupati laddu adulteration case.
He assured that following the committee's review, the government would take appropriate actions based on the findings.
