Chennai, Dec 18 (NationPress) Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad has criticized actor-turned-politician Vijay, accusing him of practicing “dual politics” and indirectly backing the ruling DMK while presenting himself as its most ardent opponent.
Prasad claimed that Vijay’s recent political maneuvers are primarily focused on bolstering his ambition to become Chief Minister, rather than genuinely advocating for public welfare.
He asserted that Vijay’s public criticisms of the DMK during rallies and speeches are mere theatrics, starkly contrasting with the actor’s comfortable, secluded lifestyle.
According to Prasad, Vijay’s attacks lack sincerity and are intended to mislead voters instead of genuinely challenging the ruling party’s policies.
The BJP leader further alleged that Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) operates on “money politics,” which includes efforts to entice leaders from other parties while marginalizing loyal supporters. He raised concerns about Vijay’s silence on controversies like the Thiruparankundram temple issue, where the lighting of Karthigai Deepam was reportedly restricted, accusing him of failing to condemn the DMK’s “anti-Hindu stance.”
Prasad also referenced past remarks by senior DMK leaders that he deemed disrespectful to Hindu beliefs, criticizing Vijay for not addressing these statements.
The BJP spokesperson accused the DMK government of rampant corruption—from land and mineral management to liquor sales—and attributed the rise in drug abuse and crime rates in Tamil Nadu to their governance. He alleged that the government attempts to spin its failures as achievements and challenged Vijay’s history of staging protests or taking firm stands on critical governance issues.
Prasad further posited that the DMK has “lost the moral legitimacy to rule” due to law and order issues, including custodial deaths and alleged attacks on political adversaries.
He claimed that Vijay’s assertions of offering an alternative to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin are unconvincing and mocked what he termed the actor’s “dramatic” political style.
Expressing confidence in the BJP-led alliance’s future, Prasad highlighted recent electoral victories in Bihar and Kerala, asserting that the party is poised for a significant win in Tamil Nadu in 2026.
He urged voters to reject Vijay’s perceived duplicity and instead support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and welfare initiatives for the state.
Prasad concluded by noting that while he holds Vijay in high regard as an actor, the public should see through what he described as the TVK leader’s “acting” in politics, emphasizing that the electorate in Tamil Nadu is becoming increasingly aware of such tactics.
