Chennai, Nov 1 (NationPress) The BJP has mounted a vigorous defense against Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge following his recent call to impose a ban on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The BJP contends that the Sangh is not a challenge but rather a vital remedy for numerous societal issues.
Describing Kharge’s statement as a “reckless political outburst,” Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson ANS Prasad demanded that he provide an “unconditional apology” to the millions of Swayamsevaks who have dedicated their lives to national service.
The party spokesperson accused Congress of “rewriting history and betraying B.R. Ambedkar’s Constitution,” while also labeling the RSS as “the moral backbone of Bharat.”
“If anyone has undermined democracy and constitutional values, it is the Congress - from Indira Gandhi’s Emergency to today’s dynasty-driven politics,” the statement asserted.
Quoting historical events, the BJP spokesperson pointed to the Emergency of 1975-77, the 39th and 42nd Constitutional Amendments, the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, and the numerous corruption scandals under the UPA as proof of the Congress’s “habitual abuse of power.”
He further criticized the Nehru government’s “failed forward policy” for India’s 1962 defeat against China and claimed that the Congress fostered separatism in Kashmir through Article 370.
In response to Kharge’s allegations linking the RSS to law-and-order issues, Prasad noted that official NCRB data indicates that overall IPC crimes have decreased by 4.5 percent in 2023.
“The RSS is not a problem; rather, it is a solution - a disciplined and service-oriented force that has supported citizens during every crisis, from Partition to Covid-19,” he stated.
The statement highlighted the RSS’s relief efforts during Partition, natural disasters, and the pandemic, describing it as “the world’s largest volunteer movement” with over five million members and thousands of social initiatives.
Furthermore, ANS Prasad referenced Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 1948 letter recognizing the RSS’s service to Hindu society post-Partition, insisting that Kharge has “distorted history to malign a patriotic organization.”
Wrapping up the rebuttal, ANS Prasad urged Kharge and Rahul Gandhi to reflect on their actions instead of disparaging patriots.
“The Congress has lost its moral compass. India is progressing under Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a Viksit Bharat, guided by the values of Patel and Ambedkar,” he concluded.
