Chennai, Aug 30 (NationPress) Chief Minister M.K. Stalin embarked on a week-long official journey to Germany and the UK on Saturday, aiming to attract business investments for Tamil Nadu and enhance connections with the global Tamil diaspora.
CM Stalin departed from Chennai at 9:50 a.m. aboard an Emirates Airlines flight via Dubai, with his initial destination being Germany. Before his takeoff, he visited the VIP lounge at Chennai airport, where ministers, MPs, MLAs, party executives, officials, and members of the public gathered to bid him farewell.
Speaking to the media at the airport, he stated, "I am traveling to Germany and England for a week to secure new business investments and finalize fresh agreements. I will be back on September 8."
He emphasized that since the DMK government took office in 2021, the state has attracted investments totaling Rs 10,62,752 crore through 922 MoUs, creating over 32 lakh jobs.
He noted that his previous visits to the US, Spain, Japan, UAE, and Singapore resulted in 36 MoUs, with 23 already implemented, leading several companies to commence production.
Detailing his itinerary, the Chief Minister is slated to participate in the Non-Resident Tamil Indians Association – Europe meeting on August 31 in Cologne, Germany, and attend the 'Great Tamil Dream' event organized by the diaspora, where he will invite investors to establish industries in Tamil Nadu.
After concluding his engagements in Germany by September 1, CM Stalin will head to the UK. On September 2 and 3, he is expected to engage with entrepreneurs at the University of Cambridge.
On September 4, he will deliver a speech at the unveiling of a Periyar portrait at Oxford University and participate in welfare programs organized by Tamil diaspora groups.
Later, on September 6, he will join cultural and community events in London. For his return, two travel options have been arranged: either a direct British Airways flight from London on September 7, arriving in Chennai at 3:30 a.m. on September 8, or via Emirates Airlines through Dubai, where he would land at 8 a.m. on the same day.
In response to criticism from Opposition Leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami regarding frequent foreign trips, the Chief Minister remarked, "He believes my trip will mirror his.
