Chennai, May 11 (NationPress) The Tambaram City Police in Tamil Nadu have declared temporary traffic diversions along the East Coast Road (ECR) due to the upcoming Chithirai Full Moon Vanniyar Youth Conference organized by the PMK this Sunday.
The conference will be held at Thiruvidanthai, located near Mahabalipuram. To ensure the safety of the public and to facilitate smooth vehicle movement, these diversions will be active from noon until 10 p.m.
A significant turnout is anticipated for the conference, leading police to adjust the routes for vehicles en route to the venue and adjacent areas.
According to the updated traffic plan, vehicles departing from Chennai heading towards Mamallapuram will be redirected at the Akkarai junction. These vehicles will follow a new route via KK Salai, Sholinganallur junction, Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), and Padur, eventually reconnecting with Kovalam Road to reach their destination.
Additionally, vehicles coming from southern regions, including Puducherry and Cuddalore, are advised to completely avoid the ECR stretch. Instead, they should take the Tindivanam-Chengalpattu route to access Thiruvidanthai and nearby areas.
In conjunction with traffic adjustments, police have also restricted the use of loudspeakers and shouting slogans from vehicles headed to the event.
Authorities have cautioned that any breaches of these regulations will lead to strict legal repercussions under applicable laws.
A senior police officer stated, “These measures are essential for maintaining public order, preventing traffic jams, and ensuring the safety of participants and local residents. We encourage motorists to plan their journeys wisely and adhere to all traffic advisories.”
Signboards indicating diversions have been placed at key junctions, and police personnel will be stationed along the route to assist motorists. The public is urged to cooperate fully and follow instructions to ensure smooth movement. The police have reassured that all necessary precautions are being taken to avert any untoward incidents during the event.
