Roby, a software engineer based in London, was eagerly awaiting her arrival. Harpreet, also an engineer, had been working at a software firm in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
Harpreet's father-in-law, Harjeet Singh Hora, expressed his sorrow to IANS on Friday, stating, "Harpreet had a flight booked from Ahmedabad to London to celebrate my son's birthday on June 16. She frequently visited him, but this time, this heartbreaking incident occurred, and now she is gone forever."
Another family member, Rajendra Singh Hora, disclosed that Harpreet was assigned seat number 22 E on the Boeing Dreamliner, which crashed just 38 seconds after takeoff. This tragic event resulted in the loss of all 241 lives on board and likely caused casualties on the ground as well.
"Roby and Harpreet married in 2020 but had no children. Harpreet had previously lived with Roby in London, but after losing her job there, she took a position in Bengaluru," Rajendra shared with IANS.
Several family members have traveled to Ahmedabad to claim Harpreet's remains.
When asked about retrieving the remains, Rajendra replied, "Not yet." Meanwhile, relatives have gathered at Harpreet's family home in Indore.
The aircraft crashed shortly after departing from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon.
In addition to the 241 victims on the flight, many innocent individuals on the ground are feared to have lost their lives as the Boeing collided with a residential building and the BJ Medical College mess, leading to a massive fire and emergency response.
Due to being heavily fueled for its long-haul journey, the impact intensified the explosion and fire following the crash.
Among the deceased was senior BJP leader and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was en route to meet his daughter in London. This tragic incident has resonated worldwide.
