Jaipur, May 1 (NationPress) Tragically, four individuals, including a four-year-old child, lost their lives due to a devastating fire at a hotel in Ajmer, Rajasthan on Thursday.

The blaze erupted at the 'Naaz' hotel located in Diggi Bazaar around 8 a.m.

Additionally, four other people, among them a one-and-a-half-year-old child named Ibrahim, suffered severe burns and are in critical condition.

In a heart-wrenching moment, a mother threw her child from a window in a desperate attempt to shield them from the fierce flames.

The child incurred minor burns.

According to eyewitness Mangilal Kalosia, who caught the child, the fire was triggered by a loud explosion, likely from an air conditioning unit.

"We smashed the glass windows from outside. The woman tossed her child into my arms from the window," Kalosia recounted.

The inferno rapidly spread across all five floors of the hotel, which was reportedly accommodating numerous pilgrims at that hour. In a frantic effort to escape, many guests jumped out of windows.

Rescue operations faced significant challenges due to the narrow access road leading to the hotel.

Dr. Anil Samaria, Principal of JLN Medical College, confirmed that eight victims were admitted to the hospital.

"Four of them succumbed. Three are critically injured, including a child among the deceased," he noted.

Several firefighters and police officers also fell ill during the rescue due to smoke inhalation and fatigue. A female police constable began to vomit near the hotel as her condition worsened.

Despite these challenges, police, civil defense, and fire brigade teams successfully evacuated the remaining hotel guests.

Ajmer Collector Lok Bandhu stated that police and civil defense teams conducted thorough searches of the hotel.

"No additional individuals were located inside. Our priority now is to ensure the injured receive optimal medical attention," he added.

DIG Om Prakash confirmed that the entire emergency response team arrived at the scene without delay.

"Some of our team members felt unwell during the operation but are now stable," he stated.

Ward 22 Councillor Bharti Shrivastava mentioned that most hotel guests were asleep when the fire erupted.

"People were trapped inside, necessitating the breaking of glass windows for their rescue. Local leaders and administrative officials arrived promptly to assist with the rescue efforts," she added.
