Gurugram, July 12 (NationPress) Just days before her tragic death, tennis player Radhika Yadav was engaged in conversations with her coach based in Dubai about the possibility of pursuing opportunities abroad, despite her father's objections. This ambitious young athlete aimed to work in Australia, Dubai, or China and had plans to leave home by October-November, according to chats reviewed by investigators.
The revelations about the 25-year-old Radhika's aspirations for financial independence surfaced on the same day that a Gurugram court ordered her father, Deepak Yadav, 49, to undergo 14 days of judicial custody.
Deepak Yadav, who stands accused of murdering his daughter, was presented before Judge Akash Jindal following a day of police interrogation.
During his court appearance, the accused concealed his face with a white mask as he was escorted to and from the venue.
Radhika's conversations indicated her dissatisfaction with the restrictions imposed by her family, highlighting her desire to move far away from home.
In her messages, she disclosed discussions with her father about financial matters, with her father reportedly opposing her plans to pursue coaching abroad.
“My father has said no,” Radhika noted in Hindi within one of her chats, expressing her father's doubts about the practicality of working overseas if it resulted in minimal savings.
In another conversation, Radhika mentioned her reluctance to accept an assignment in China due to the lack of availability of Indian cuisine.
On Thursday, Deepak Yadav allegedly shot his daughter three times in their Gurugram home following a dispute over her plans to operate a sports academy. He was reportedly angered by her tennis coaching role at an academy, according to police statements.
When presented in court on Friday, police requested a two-day remand for Yadav, but the judge limited it to just one day.
A spokesperson for the Gurugram Police previously stated that Radhika was shot by her father with his licensed firearm around 10:30 A.M. in their residence located in Sushant Lok Phase-2 of Gurugram's Sector-57.
One bullet struck Radhika in the neck, while two others hit her in the back as she worked in the kitchen on the first floor, where her uncle Kuldeep resides on the ground floor.
Meanwhile, sources indicate that Radhika's mother, Manju Yadav, has declined to offer a statement regarding the incident.
