Hyderabad, July 17 (NationPress) The working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), K. T. Rama Rao, delivered a pointed message to the Director General of Police (DGP) on Thursday, warning that the citizens of Telangana are vigilantly observing the "excesses" of the current government. Rama Rao assured the police chief that the era of BRS will return and committed to scrutinizing the administration's every move.
In a post on the social media platform X, KTR tagged the state police chief, stating, “The people of Telangana are watching the various excesses of the administration and the troubling precedents being established. Remember, no government lasts forever. Our day shall come again, and I guarantee that every action will be evaluated.”
“We trust in the judiciary and will persist in defending our democratic rights,” he emphasized.
KTR was responding to a post by former director of digital media Konatham Dileep regarding the apprehension of party activist Shashidhar Goud.
Dileep noted that on Wednesday evening, as Shashidhar Goud was nearing release from Karimnagar jail, a police unit from Ramagundam arrived to arrest him once again. However, due to the crowd outside the jail waiting for Shashidhar, they retreated.
“Yet this morning, the Ramagundam police re-arrested Shashi from Karimnagar jail under another dubious charge. For simply retweeting posts from the BRS party account, this government has repeatedly filed cases against him, keeping him incarcerated for 16 days and subjecting him to harassment,” Dileep explained.
He asserted that the retweeted content only featured political critique, devoid of any obscenity or falsehood. “Even in military dictatorships, such oppression is rare! Yet, the Telangana Congress government is stripping citizens of their civil liberties and freedom of expression,” he remarked.
KTR previously criticized the Revanth Reddy government for detaining Shashidhar Goud over a retweet, likening Revanth Reddy's governance to the emergency imposed in 1975.
