Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh), July 5 (NationPress) The Eklavya model residential schools, initiated by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to ensure quality education for tribal students, are making remarkable strides in the region, influencing their character and future positively.
The Eklavya model residential school established in Tamia, Chhindwara district, last year focuses on educating tribal students and equipping them for competitive exams, thus paving the way for their integration into the mainstream job market.
At this school, students enjoy free amenities including boarding and lodging, along with access to technical education, computer labs, sports, culture, music, drama, and art, fostering a comprehensive learning environment.
These institutions were specifically created for the children of the tribal community.
Rakesh Kushwaha, Principal of the Eklavya Model Residential School, shared with IANS, "This school is unique as it is located in tribal-populated areas where the number of tribal individuals exceeds 20,000 or where more than 50% of the population is tribal. The central government runs these schools in such regions, offering all essential services at no cost to the students."
Key facilities at this Eklavya Adarsh Residential School include accommodation, meals, sports, and more.
A student mentioned to IANS, "Every year, the Central Government organizes a significant cultural festival through Eklavya Model Residential Schools. This event unfolds in four stages: first, competitions are conducted at the district school level. The winning students then advance to the zonal level, where they compete further. Those who succeed at the zonal level proceed to the national competition, organized by the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) at various locations yearly."
The school provides education from class 6 to class 12, preparing students for higher education and professional courses.
