Kolkata, June 3 (NationPress) - The chief of BJP’s Information Technology Cell and central observer for West Bengal, Amit Malviya, issued a statement on Tuesday aimed at clarifying that the central government had no choice but to halt the disbursement of new funds under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme to the Mamata government due to clear evidence of previous fund misappropriation.
“Under Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal is descending into a state of despair. She recently questioned the central government’s decision to cease fund allocations for the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. The response is simple - Trinamool leaders have been diverting those funds instead of using them for public benefit,” Malviya stated in a post on his official X account.
To support his claims, Malviya highlighted the example of fund mismanagement in Daspur, located in the West Midnapore district.
He asserted that after the devastating floods of 2018, caused by the overflowing Kangsabati and Kansai Rivers, no repairs have been initiated in the area over the past six years.
Malviya also noted that numerous letters and urgent requests from local residents have gone unanswered, forcing them to rely on boats for transportation for three to four months each year.
“For the remaining months, they must navigate through mud fields, risking their safety. In health emergencies, individuals are carried on bamboo poles to ambulances - reminiscent of the 18th century. This is the harsh reality of governance under the Trinamool Congress,” Malviya emphasized.
The BJP leader further contended that the situation in Daspur exemplifies that the struggles faced by the populace are not due to a lack of funds, but rather due to corruption, misuse, and utter neglect for the common man's welfare.
“The people of West Bengal deserve much more,” Malviya concluded.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister recently criticized the West Bengal government during political rallies in Alipurduar and Kolkata, addressing the rampant corruption plaguing the state.
Both leaders asserted that the citizens of West Bengal are being deprived of essential services due to the pervasive corruption propagated by leaders of the Trinamool Congress at all levels.
