Agartala, Oct 21 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb, who is currently serving as the BJP’s co-in-charge for West Bengal, made a strong statement on Tuesday, criticizing the Trinamool Congress (TMC). He claimed that the state is experiencing a significant decline in law and order and that “human values have vanished” under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s administration.
Recently appointed alongside Union Minister Bhupender Yadav, Deb, who also serves as the BJP’s Lok Sabha member for the West Tripura constituency, will be spearheading the party’s campaign for the impending West Bengal Assembly elections next year.
Deb emphasized that the TMC's governance has led to a complete erosion of human values in West Bengal. “Rapes, murders, and instances of arson are rampant,” he noted. “Despite having a female Chief Minister, the state’s illustrious heritage and culture have suffered greatly. The land that has birthed numerous great thinkers and notable figures is now being sullied,” he told reporters after offering prayers to Goddess Kali.
He expressed strong belief that the forthcoming 2026 Assembly elections would mark a turning point for West Bengal, with the BJP emerging victorious under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Deb described the Chief Minister’s behavior as akin to that of a “demon.”
“Traditionally, women are known for their gentle nature, yet she has altered that perception,”
Without directly naming Banerjee, Deb raised concerns regarding the alleged accumulation of wealth by her family members and party associates.
“The citizens of Bengal are eagerly anticipating the removal of the TMC government in the upcoming Assembly elections,”
He drew historical parallels, comparing Banerjee to Mir Jafar, accusing her of tarnishing her own reputation. “Just as no one names their child Mir Jafar today due to his betrayal, one day no girl will be named Mamata because she has brought disgrace to that name through her actions,” he asserted.
Deb further accused TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee of being involved with land mafias, asserting that the populace of West Bengal is resolute in their mission to eradicate the “illegal activities and corruption” prevalent under TMC rule.
“This time, the struggle in Bengal is not just political; it is about safeguarding human values and liberating Bengal from these demons,”
the former Chief Minister of Tripura declared.
