Kolkata, August 30 (NationPress) The Trinamool Congress has confirmed that it will send its Lok Sabha MP and former cricketer Yusuf Pathan, alongside senior leader Lalitesh Tripathi, to join the Congress-led Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar on September 1.

According to party insiders, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee and Lok Sabha leader Abhishek Banerjee will be unable to attend due to prior commitments.

"The party has decided that Yusuf Pathan and Lalitesh Tripathi will stand in for the Trinamool Congress at the rally on September 1," stated a senior TMC official.

A special session of the West Bengal Assembly is scheduled for the same day, where the Chief Minister is expected to be present, while Abhishek Banerjee has another engagement, according to party sources.

Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav, president of the Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, participated in the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Saran district of Bihar today. Rohini Acharya, the daughter of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, was also in attendance.

The Congress party took to social media to confirm Akhilesh Yadav's participation in the Yatra.

The yatra has attracted a large number of supporters from the Mahagathbandhan, with major opposition leaders uniting to address the crowds.

Launched by Rahul Gandhi on August 17, the Voter Adhikar Yatra aims to protest against the alleged extensive removal of names from Bihar’s electoral rolls. The event will conclude in Patna on Monday.

Sources indicate that the involvement of Trinamool signifies the opposition INDIA bloc's solidarity against the BJP-led government at the national level.

Opposition parties claim that close to 65 lakh names were deleted from Bihar’s draft electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), describing it as a direct attack on citizens' voting rights.

Following a directive from the Supreme Court, the Election Commission was instructed to disclose the deleted names by August 19 and submit a compliance report by August 22.
