Agartala, April 13 (NationPress) In a shocking event, a 52-year-old educator from Tripura’s Gomati district tragically took the lives of his wife and son before attempting to end his own life, as reported by the police.

The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Udaipur, Debanjali Ray, stated that initial investigations revealed that Ajit Das, a government school science teacher, allegedly struck his wife, Rupa Das, aged 45, and their son, Diganta Das, aged 18, with a bamboo stick while they were asleep early on Monday morning, leading to their immediate deaths.

Following the incident, Das attempted suicide by ingesting pesticides and was swiftly transported to Gomati District Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical care. Hospital officials reported that his condition is critical.

Neighbors, alerted by the screams early in the day, rushed to the residence but found both victims had already succumbed to their injuries. The bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination.

This tragic event took place in Beltoli under the jurisdiction of the Radha Kishore Pur police station.

Authorities are investigating the events that led to this heartbreaking occurrence. The SDPO mentioned that, according to family members, Ajit Das had been experiencing mental health challenges in recent days.
