Hyderabad, Dec 29 (NationPress) Two police officers tragically took their own lives in two distinct incidents in Telangana on Sunday.
A head constable hanged himself in Medak district, while a constable ended his life by ingesting pesticides in Siddipet district.
Head constable Sai Kumar was discovered hanging from a tree at Kulcharam police station in Medak district.
The head constable had left home for a morning stroll and resorted to this devastating act upon reaching the police station.
Initial investigations indicate that the head constable spoke to his daughter on the phone shortly before taking this drastic measure.
The authorities have moved the body for an autopsy and are conducting an investigation. The motive for the suicide remains unclear.
Family members informed the police that the head constable had expressed intentions of taking his own life.
Rural Circle Inspector Rajasekhar Reddy mentioned that personal issues could have influenced Sai Kumar's decision.
In a separate incident, a police constable in Siddipet district also took his life.
Balakrishna, a constable from the 17th Battalion, hanged himself after poisoning his wife and two children with pesticides at their home in Siddipet town.
Balakrishna's wife Manasa and their sons Ashwant and Ashwin have been admitted to Siddipet Government Hospital, where their condition is reported to be stable.
Initial police investigations suggest that Balakrishna and his family were facing financial challenges, leading to their suicide attempt.
The constable had taken out loans from friends to purchase a home and was reportedly under pressure from creditors for repayment.
The state has been experiencing an alarming rate of suicides among police personnel for various reasons.
Last week, a Sub-Inspector of Police, a female constable, and a computer operator from a cooperative society were discovered deceased in a lake in Kamareddy district.
Authorities are conducting inquiries into the deaths of Sai Kumar, the Sub-Inspector from Bhiknur police station, Shruti, who was with Bibiet Police Station, and computer operator Nikhil.
