New Delhi, Sep 6 (NationPress) Opposition leaders expressed strong disapproval of US President Donald Trump on Saturday, following his recent remarks regarding India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They accused both leaders of making the world appear foolish and undermining India's international reputation.

In an interview with IANS, Congress leader Manoj Kumar fiercely condemned the US President, stating, "While they profess to be good allies, their actions tell a different story. Trump labeled PM Modi as a friend, yet criticizes India, claiming it is not performing adequately. His comments yesterday suggested that US-India relations are at a breaking point. Both Trump and PM Modi are making the world seem foolish."

Kumar further questioned the inconsistency in Trump's statements, saying, "Trump himself stated that what India is doing is incorrect, yet he refers to PM Modi as a great Prime Minister. How can a great PM's actions be viewed negatively?"

He also criticized Trump’s previous outreach, remarking, "After the Pahalgam incident, Trump invited the nation that supports those terrorists to the White House and dined with them. Now he claims to be our ally? Do you think we are fools? Your actions are evident to the world. Trump should refrain from meddling in our domestic affairs, and our Prime Minister must not remain silent on such issues."

RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari joined in the criticism, stating, "US President makes statements at any moment. PM Modi supported Trump during his election campaign, but it's clear now that he is unwilling to maintain friendship and has disrespected India repeatedly."

Samajwadi Party spokesperson Dharmendra Singh also challenged the government, stating, "If Trump is indeed a friend, then why are we facing such high tariffs? PM Modi needs to explain why the US President is putting us in a difficult position."

Meanwhile, Trump appeared to soften his tone during a White House press conference on Friday, describing Modi as a "great Prime Minister" and reaffirming that the US-India relationship remains significant.

PM Modi later responded on X, expressing his "deep appreciation and full reciprocation" of Trump’s sentiments and describing the partnership as "positive and forward-looking."
